The sole Boston-area location of a group of coffee shops run by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities has shut down, though it looks like they could be returning elsewhere.
According to a source, Bitty & Beau's Coffee in Melrose is no longer in business, with an article from WCVB indicating that it shuttered on March 15 and that according to the company, "B&B Worldwide is actively pursuing a new Bitty & Beau's Coffee franchise location in Boston proper." The Melrose outlet of Bitty & Beau's first opened on Main Street in the summer of 2021, with the company currently including 23 shops in 12 states; founder Amy Wright named the shops after her daughter, Bitty, and her son, Beau, both of whom have Down syndrome.
The address for the now-closed location of Bitty & Beau's Coffee in Melrose was 462 Main Street, Melrose, MA, 02176. The website for Bitty & Beau's Coffee is at https://ift.tt/iUPMkhy
