Hello, Coffee Project.
Coffee Project has been a popular Instagram spot since it opened a few years back. I was actually lured to visit its first store in Quezon City because of its picturesque interiors. However, its food and drinks did not exactly match its wonderful look.
I was quite iffy to give it another try but I've heard that its food improved a lot. Since I had very limited options to choose from at 11 p.m., R and I decided to swing by for late dinner.
One aspect Coffee Project is very consistent with is its beautiful and warm interiors. This one in BGC is just as striking as the rest.
It closes at 12 midnight on Saturdays and I was surprised to hear that last call is also at 12. I could totally imagine some guests abusing that but I do hope most have the decency to come in at least half an hour before the stated closing hours.
For this visit, R and I went with Fish and Chips (PHP200) and Sardine Pasta (PHP240). We also got some of its fruit flavored teas Raspberry (PHP195, large) and Pomegranate (PHP150, large).
R's raspberry drink was overly sweet. It also tasted syrupy and nothing natural. At least it had taste. My pomegranate beverage was bland and I could barely taste anything.
My sardine pasta was al dente and quite flavorful. The slight spice was addictive and beautifully balanced by Parmesan. The garlic bread on the side was good too. However, I found it pricey for the serving size.
The plate of fish and chips were more value for money. The fish fillet were perfectly battered and the inside were juicy. It would have been better if served with tartar sauce than just mayonnaise. Also, I hope the side was homemade and not chips straight from a bag bought from the supermarket. But it was still a pretty good meal.
I'm happy that Coffee Project improved its food offerings and have a new go to place for late dinner. Maybe I'll stick with coffee based drinks next time.
