Hello, Tsujiri!
I was so giddy when I found out that Tsujiri opened its doors in BGC. Located on the third floor of SM Aura, I could finally indulge in what serious matcha lovers consider as the best green tea ice cream around.
I have to admit, I got confused on whether to get its popular Tsujiri Sundae (PHP285) or a slush. But I decided to go with its signature treat and got the former.
The picturesque dessert was served in less than 5 minutes and I couldn't help myself from drooling when it was handed to me.
After some quick snapshots, I took a spoonful of matcha soft serve and I was surprised with its sweet taste.
It was definitely creamy and worthy of all the praises. However, I prefer my matcha to have a stronger and slightly bitter taste. This was addressed though by the delectable bed of crisp toasted brown rice. Make sure to eat it with ice cream as the toasted crispies could be a bit too bitter and leave a burnt flavor in your mouth.
The layer of red bean paste added an interesting flavor and depth while the golden chestnut and mochi gave it more texture than just crunch. Though the monaka, a crisp and beautiful biscuit, made my sundae look prettier, I found it unnecessary as it didn't really add flavor.
As a whole, the Tsujiri Sundae was great. However, if I were to just get the matcha soft serve, I might hesitate as I found it sweeter than expected. I'll try its Vanilla soft serve next time.
