An innovative Cambridge restaurant known in part for its experimental takes on drinks is shutting down, and a new spot under the same ownership--and with a big name apparently involved--will replace it.
Eater Boston is reporting that Cafe ArtScience in Kendall Square is closing its doors after dinner service tomorrow night, with founder David Edwards replacing it with a new restaurant called Senses. In the article, Edwards says that the upcoming Senses comes from "the fruit of a conversation between myself and chef Jody Adams that began with the loss of our common friend Tenzin Samdo earlier this year"; Samdo was a partner and beverage director for the place who passed away earlier this year, while Adams is involved with Trade, Porto, Saloniki, and Greek Street, and was also behind Rialto, a landmark Harvard Square restaurant that closed in 2016.
Cafe ArtScience first opened in 2014, calling itself a "a cafe and culture lab committed to great casual drinks and dining alongside art, science, and design experiences that express audacious frontier dreams of tomorrow."
The address for Cafe Artscience is 650 E Kendall Street, Cambridge, MA, 02142.
