Salem Lowe at Salem Willows Park Is Closing

An iconic North Shore eatery that features an unusual regional food item is getting ready to shut down after more than 50 years in business.

According to a source, Salem Lowe at Salem Willows Park is going to be closing for good, with a note out front at the place saying that "It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve the community for so long -- with patrons from all over the country coming year in and year out....It is time for us to retire. Thanks for the memories! - The Yee Family." The note says that this will be their "last summer," though we have been told that the specific closing date may be August 14; as soon as we confirm this date, we will post an update here.

Salem Lowe is known for its chop suey sandwiches while also offering classic Chinese American fare such as chicken fingers, spare ribs, crab rangoons, fried wontons, sweet and sour pork, egg foo yong, chow mein, and fried rice.

The address for Salem Lowe is 201 Fort Avenue, Salem, MA, 01970.
