An award-winning suburban restaurant that focuses on Israeli food has closed for at least the time being.
According to a Facebook post from the place, Simcha in Sharon is shuttered for now, with the note (which is from owner Avi Shemtov) saying the following:
It is with mixed emotions that I have to break the news that [Wednesday, June 15] will be Simcha's last dinner service, at least for the summer. Depending on where our staffing, energy level, and desire to return are come September we will certainly consider reopening. The possibility exists this may be the end of a chapter for our team though....The realities of the industry at the moment have just caught up with us. Too many nights short staffed, too much opportunity at our other companies.
The post goes on to say that Shemtov's other businesses--including Hummus v'Hummus in Allston-Brighton, The Chubby Chickpea food truck, and the TAPPED beer truck, remain in operation, and another location of Hummus v'Hummus plans to open next month in Chestnut Hill.
Simcha, which first opened in March of 2019, has received much in the way of accolades since debuting, including being among the best new restaurants of 2019 in a Boston Magazine article.
The address for Simcha is 370 South Main St., Sharon, MA, 02067.
Thanks to Richard Auffrey of The Passionate Foodie for initially bringing this to our attention.
