Seabiscuit Plans to Open in KO Pies Space in East Boston

A Somerville bakery and cafe that closed a year and a half ago is planning to be reborn in East Boston, and it would be taking over a beloved space on the water.

According to a source, The Biscuit is looking to be rebranded as Seabiscuit, with the plan being to take over the KO Pies at the Shipyard space. A NuMarket page confirms this, saying that "The Biscuit is moving into East Boston to re-open KO Pies as Seabiscuit and letting you, their community, fund the opening," while also mentioning that the new spot will apparently continue to offer KO's Australian meat pies along with pastries, coffee, and possibly alcoholic beverages. An earlier article here had hinted at a possible rebirth of The Biscuit, as the people behind it said in late 2019 that they were planning to open in a new location, though it sounded like they had been looking at another undisclosed space initially.

An earlier article here had mentioned that KO Pies at the Shipyard was looking to be sold, with the options being that someone would either take over the KO concept or purchase and beer and wine license and open a different concept within the space.

The address for KO Pies at the Shipyard (and the proposed Seabiscuit) is 256 Marginal Street (Building 16), East Boston, MA, 02128.
