The team behind a legendary oyster farm on the South Shore has acquired an historic restaurant, bar and inn that will be absorbed into the adjacent business.
A press release confirms what an earlier article from the Duxbury Clipper had mentioned, that Skip Bennett, who is the founder and owner of Island Creek Oyster Farm in Duxbury, has announced the purchase of the Winsor House Inn, with the plan being to reopen the place sometime this fall. As the inn gets ready to debut, Bennett and his team will commence sales of their oyster farm tours on April 13 in the meantime, while The Raw Bar will open at the farm on May 1. (Island Creek also runs a raw bar and shellfish market in Portland, ME, called The Shop.)
As mentioned in an earlier article here, Bennett had been among the business partners behind Island Creek Oyster Bar, Row 34, Branch Line, and Eastern Standard Provisions, but they announced their separation last month with Chef Jeremy Sewall and Shore Gregory being the sole partners behind Row 34, Garrett Harker running Branch Line and Eastern Standard Provisions, and Bennett continuing to work on the Island Creek brand along with the development of a new working waterfront on Duxbury Bay.
The address for the Winsor House Inn is 390 Washington Street, Duxbury, MA, 02332. The website for Island Creek can be found at https://ift.tt/3vAKC1h
