The Future of Fuku in Boston's Seaport District Appears to Be in Question

A casual chicken spot on the Boston waterfront that was opened by a celebrity chef a couple of years ago seems to be facing an uncertain future.

According to a source (Daphna Edgar), Fuku in the city's Seaport District is papered over and now has signs for Broken Coconut shown out front (a recent tweet from @drb2991 indeed shows a picture of Broken Coconut signs out front at the Fuku space), while a check within the locations section of the Fuku website indicates that the Northern Avenue outlet has been removed from that page. We have reached out to both Fuku and Broken Coconut and are waiting to hear back with more details, so stay tuned for updates. (Broken Coconut is a "beach to bowl" spot with roots in New York City that had been planning to open a few doors down on Northern Avenue.)

Fuku first opened in the Seaport District in the fall of 2018, with David Chang being behind it; Chang is a restaurateur and James Beard award winner who is known in part for the Netflix show "Ugly Delicious."

The address for Fuku (and presumably, the upcoming Broken Coconut) is 43 Northern Avenue, Boston, MA, 02210. The website for Fuku can be found at https://eatfuku.com/
