The future of a longtime suburban barbecue spot is now in question, as it has been taken over by the state.
According to a source within the restaurant industry, Bison County in Waltham has been seized, with another source sending us a picture showing a sign out front that indicates the Moody Street eatery is now in possession of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for nonpayment of taxes. It is not yet known whether the Department of Revenue and the restaurant will come to some kind of payment plan so that it can reopen at some point in time; as soon as we find out more, we will post an update here.
Bison County first opened in 1995, with the dining spot offering such dishes as corn fritters, chili, fried pickles, pulled pork, brisket, baby back ribs, wings, fried catfish, bison tips, and more.
The address for Bison County is 275 Moody Street, Waltham, MA, 02453.
