Earlier this month, it was reported that a burger-focused offshoot of an award-winning restaurant had closed permanently. Now we have learned that a new burger spot has moved into the space.
According to a press release, Nu Burger is now open in the former Craigie Burger space at Time Out Market in the Fenway section of Boston. The new eatery offers burgers with global influences, with Nina Festekjian of anoush'ella in the South End being behind the place. Nu Burger debuts today with the reopening of Time Out Market, which had been closed temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Craigie Burger announced its closure approximately four weeks ago, with owner Tony Maws saying at the time, "It's a precarious situation: It's a market, and what makes that concept so special is the building. With no Red Sox and no students, [the dining spot could not remain in business]." Maws, who is behind Craigie on Main in Cambridge, first opened the burger spot at Time Out Market in June of 2019.
