An upscale American restaurant that sits above a river near the Boston line has added a brand new concept within its space.
According to an email, Steel & Rye in Milton has set up a bakery and cafe inside its Eliot Street space, offering such to-go items as freshly-baked breads, pastries, sandwiches, grain bowls, coffee, green juices, and more. We are told that it will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the usual dinner service commencing at 4:00 PM, though for now, Steel & Rye is only offering takeout as well as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. (We have also been told that the plan is for the bakery-cafe to be a permanent fixture there.)
Steel & Rye, which first opened in 2012, is located in a former ambulance garage overlooking the Neponset River just across from Dorchester.
