A landmark music club that has been around for a very long time has shut down permanently.
According to an article from Vanyaland, Great Scott in Allston has closed its doors for good, with an Instagram post from the place saying that "It is with a heavy heart today that Great Scott will not reopen." Vanyaland mentions that the Commonwealth Avenue venue, which had closed temporarily in March due to the stay-at-home advisory issued by the state of Massachusetts, was told by its landlord that its lease would not be renewed.
Great Scott first started out in 1976 and became one of the most popular music club in the entire Boston area, featuring such bands as Passion Pit and MGMT over the years.
The address for Great Scott was 1222 Commonwealth Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134.
