Shanghai Village in Arlington Will Apparently Reopen

A suburban Chinese restaurant that closed last year after being hit by a fire is planning to open back up again.

According to an article from Wicked Local and the Arlington Advocate, Shanghai Village in Arlington Center is going to reopen, based on what they were told by Arlington Economic Development Coordinator Ali Carter. The Mass. Ave. restaurant, which first opened nearly 40 years ago, sustained major damage in a fire in May of 2018, and there has not been much activity at the site over recent months but Carter says that "the owners are moving forward towards re-opening the restaurant and are currently in discussions with various town departments as they are getting things up and running at the same location." No timeline has been given as to when Shanghai Village could return, so check back for updates as they come in.

The address for Shanghai Village is 434 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02474.
