A longtime favorite in Boston's Chinatown neighborhood has closed, and it is not yet known what might become of the space.
A couple of posters within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page state that New Shanghai on Hudson Street is no longer in operation, confirming an earlier tweet from @JCCraves that shows the place locked up and dark. A phone call placed to the dining spot indicates that its phone is no longer in service, and there has been no specific information on if/when it could reopen or if a new restaurant might take over the space.
New Shanghai first opened more than 25 years ago and become both a media darling and an industry haunt for its Beijing and Szechuan fare.
The address for New Shanghai is 21 Hudson Street, Boston, MA, 02111.
