A couple of months ago, we reported that a local chef who was a recent James Beard award winner was planning to open her own restaurant. Now we have learned a bit more about the place.
According to a post from Food & Wine, Karen Akunowicz is opening Fox and the Knife in South Boston, with the place being an "Italian-inspired neighborhood enoteca" that the former Executive Chef/partner at Myers + Chang in Boston's South End says will be "just a warm, welcoming neighborhood joint." The article says that the 75-seat eatery could be opening in November and that it will be an affordable spot that will hopefully be "something for everyone." It is not yet known exactly where Fox and the Knife will open--the post says it will be located in an old building where another restaurant had been--so stay tuned for updates as they come in.
Akunowicz, who also worked at such places as Ten Tables, the now-closed Via Matta, and Oleana won a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Northeast in May.
Thanks to Caught in Southie for initially bringing this to our attention.
