Jasuben’s Pizza ~ A Street food from Ahmedabad

Jasuben Pizza is a delightful street food from Ahmedabad and is a popular homemade pizzas. These pizzas have no resemblance to the original pizzas as the base is a crisp biscuit with tomato ketchup and no fancy toppings, just what’s available goes on top. The highlight is the final topping with grated regular cheese.

I came to know about this street from when Vaishali posted it. Since J is a tough nut to crack and even though I had two other dishes to opt, I decided to go ahead with this.

Out of two other options, one was Jian Bing which is Chinese Crepes. One tough thing about these crepes is that it is entirely made with eggs. I just won’t be able to replace it with anything else!. Next was Jolada rotti, which is also a common street food in Andhra. I came across these in my Inlaws place where they sell these homemade Rottis along with Mirapakaya Bajjis or Battered Chilli Bajjis. Typically you stuff the rotti with the chillis and eat! I tell you, its utter bliss!

Anyway coming back to our Jesu ben Pizza, these are small pizzas with the base being very crisp almost like a biscuit, with a puree like a tomato ketchup and simple toppings. The highlight of the whole dish comes in the part where cheese is added after its baked, and added very lavishly over it and served. Again the cheese is regular and not the mozzarella cheese.

Talking about these pizzas, I had planned on a Pizza night for the kids and kneaded a huge dough. In the whole hectic cooking marathon where I was cooking about 7 to 8 dishes again, I simply didn’t read through the recipe properly! I clicked and done and then something prompted me to check. Lo I read that processed cheese to be added directly and should not be melted! By then all the pizzas were over and I had no energy left to bake anymore. So I ended up redoing this again, ensuring I remember the final step. Konda had this for her share and even she felt that much cheese on top is simply too much!

I used the same dough that I had made for another dish, however noting down what Vaishali had given. So this sinful cheesy Pizza is my choice for J in the A to Z International Street Foods Want to know what the Flatbread for J is? check this post.
