A renowned beer bar that was also known in part for its nachos has closed down.
According to a tweet from @FullHouseTicket, the Sunset Grill & Tap in Allston is shuttered, with Eater Boston confirming this, showing a picture of a sign out front saying that the Brighton Avenue "has closed for business" and referring customers to the Sunset Cantina on Commonwealth Avenue. No reason has been given for its closure as of yet, so keep checking back for more details as they come in.
The parent company of Sunset Grill & Tap and Sunset Cantina filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection several months ago, with the filing resulting from worries that the Department of Revenue might seize the dining and drinking spots because of $500,000 in unpaid taxes.
Sunset Grill & Tap first opened its doors in 1988.
