Xi'an Street Foods to Open in Allston

by Marc Hurwitz

It looks like another option for hand-pulled noodles and more could be on its way to Boston, and its name is similar to a popular group of New York City spots--though the two are unrelated.

According to an article from Eater Boston (and via a licensing board page), Xi'an Street Foods is planning to open in Allston, taking over the space on Brighton Avenue where 'O' Yummy Cuisine had been. The new eatery will presumably offer Xi'an cuisine that is typically found in the city of the same name in central China, which may mean that such items as hand-pulled noodles, lamb stew, flatbread sandwiches, and more could be served, though no menu has been seen as of yet.

There has been talk that the NYC-based Xi'an Famous Foods might be coming to the Boston area at some point, and Eater has indeed confirmed that founder Jason Wang is making plans to expand to the region.

Currently, hand-pulled noodles can be found at Gene's Chinese Flatbread Cafe in Boston, Woburn, and Westford.

The address for the upcoming Xi'an Street Foods is 182 Brighton Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134.
