Plaza Azteca in Hingham Shut Down by Fire Marshal; Exact Status Unknown

A Mexican restaurant on the South Shore has been forced to close, and it is not known when it could reopen again.

According to a poster on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page, Plaza Azteca in Hingham has been shut down by the town Fire Marshal, with a notice out front saying that the Whiting Street spot has been closed because of violations of fire safety codes; the codes listed on the notice appear to refer to furniture issues (according to a mass.gov page), but no specifics have been given, and calls placed to the restaurant this afternoon have gone unanswered. (As soon as we find out more about what might be going on at Plaza Azteca, we will post an update here.)

Plaza Azteca has one other location in Massachusetts (Methuen) and four in Connecticut (Enfield, Manchester, Newington, and Wallingford).

The website for Plaza Azteca in Hingham is 6 Whiting Street, Hingham, MA, 02043. The website for all locations can be found at http://ift.tt/2wqv53X
