A Boston-based beermaker that is currently a contract brewer may be getting its own brewery in the space where a cider company had been.
According to an article from BostInno, Mighty Squirrel is eyeing a building by the Mystic River in Charlestown that used to be home to Downeast Cider before that company moved to East Boston, with the Terminal Street facility possibly having a taproom in addition to a brewing area. The post mentions that Mighty Squirrel, which is contract brewing out of Von Trapp Brewery in Stowe, VT, right now, hopes to open in the space sometime this year, and that it has secured a $500,000 loan from the MassDevelopment Bank toward its brewery.
Mighty Squirrel is known in part for its beers that are high in protein, though it also has a line of more traditional beers as well.
