Williams Tavern in South Boston Has Closed; Will Be Torn Down to Make Way for Condos

A decades-old bar in South Boston has closed in order to make way for a new condo development.

According to a note from My Diner (which is located next door and is closing this weekend), Williams Tavern has shut down, as the building that has housed both businesses is slated to be torn down this summer and replaced by a residential building. The future of the A Street bar and its neighbor had been in question since last year when it was announced that a developer was purchasing the site.

Williams Tavern first started out in the 1940s, according to a source.

The address for the now-closed Williams Tavern was 92 A Street, Boston, MA, 02127.
