Vegetarian French Toast Indian Style | Savory French Toast

Varieties with bread is always welcome, especially those recipes that work out quick and tasty too. This one is a take on the famous French Toast, that is made with milk and eggs. I still remember enjoying my share of french toast growing up, when I used to eat eggs.

So I guess its only natural that one finds different ways to replicate similar dishes for vegetarians who refrain from eggs. This savory french toast is something on the same lines, though it is made with maida unlike the other versions where rava or semolina is used. I remember making a toast with that as well. However there are times when one feels a recipe is too simple to share, other times so delicious that even if it is simple, feels like sharing.

This is something Amma had made a note from some TV show. She says from now on she will make note on who made the dish that catches her fancy. She ends up watching so many cooking shows that it simply goes over the head to remember who made what.

She always makes a note of recipes with bread as she knows Konda and I love bread dishes. So this one comes handy for a quick breakfast!

Savory French Toast

Ingredients Needed:

Brown Bread Slices - 4
Salt to taste
All purpose flour - 1/4 cup
Green Chilies - 3 to 4
Garlic - 2 to 3 cloves
Butter for toasting
Coriander leaves handful

How to make Savory French Toast

Wash and grind the green chilies and garlic to a fine paste

Toast the bread on both sides, keep it aside.

Now mix in the ground paste to the maida, along with salt. Slowly add water to make a thick paste.

Spread this paste on both the sides of the toast.

Grease the pan with little butter again and toast this both sides.

Serve hot.
