Steakhouse to Open within Porter Square Hotel in Cambridge

A few years ago, we reported that a new hotel was planning to come to Cambridge's Porter Square. Now we have learned that it is getting close to opening--and it will have a restaurant within its space that pays homage to the rich history of both the space and the neighborhood.

According to an article in Wicked Local Cambridge, the Porter Square Hotel is hoping to open on May 1 in the space on Mass. Ave. where Kaya Restaurant had been, and it will include a steakhouse that will probably not open until several months after the debut of the hotel. The post says that the dining spot will honor the historic Porter's Hotel, which Zachariah Porter opened in the late 1800s and whose name is where both "Porter Square" and the "porterhouse steak" originate (cattle yards were once found around the Porter Square area).

No name has been given for the steakhouse as of yet, nor is it known exactly when it will open; as soon as we find out more, we will post an update here.

The address for the Porter Square Hotel and the steakhouse will be 1924 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02140.
