HERBS AND SPICES 14: FRANCE: Fines Herbes


What are fines herbes?
WHO KNOWS?

There are several combinations.

1. According to WIKI fines herbes is a 

combination of herbs that

 forms a mainstay of French cuisine. The 

ingredients of fines herbes are fresh parsley,

 chives, tarragon and chervil.

2. According to my pantry (Spice Island) 
 fines herbes are a comination of herbs such as thyme, oregano, sage, rosemary, marjoram and basil.

3. According to The Spice Hunter the 
ingredients are chervil, tarragon, parsley
 and chives.

4. According to Simply Organic the ingredients are Organic thyme, organic rosemary, 

organic basil, organic parsley, organic

 oregano, organic tarragon, organic 

marjoram, organic "lavender flowers". *

 * Comment about the lavender flowers; they are commonly used in Herbes de Provence not Fines Herbes.
