A new hot pot restaurant may be on its way to East Boston, taking over the space that had been home to an Italian restaurant that once gained national recognition via a TV show.
According to a licensing board hearing page, Qiao Lin Hotpot is planning to open on Sumner Street in the Jeffries Point section of Eastie, taking over the former Italian Express Pizzeria space. The notice mentions that the proposed dining spot is hoping to get a beer and wine license, and that its manager would be Xun Yang.
Italian Express Pizzeria first opened on Sumner Street 13 years ago after being in two other locations in Eastie, with the restaurant being featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" back in 2012.
The address for the proposed Qiao Lin Hotpot is 336 Sumner Street, East Boston, MA, 02128.
