Rye Tavern in Plymouth Has Closed Indefinitely

An upscale South Shore restaurant hidden away in an historic spot has shut down for the time being, and it is not known when it might reopen again.

According to a Facebook post from the place, Rye Tavern in Plymouth is shuttered, with the note indicating that it is "closed indefinitely" while saying that "This is breaking our hearts" and hinting that the closure is due at least in part to a lack of workers, stating that they are trying to adequately staff their kitchen. The farm-to-table spot, which is located in a remote area in the Pinehills section of town, had posted that it shut down late last month after a couple of workers tested positive for Covid, though a subsequent post gave hope that it would reopen this week.

Rye Tavern first opened in the summer of 2011, moving into a structure that dates back to the 1700s and had once been an inn and meeting spot.

The address for Rye Tavern is 517 Old Sandwich Rd, Plymouth, MA 02360. Its website can be found at https://ryetavern.org/
