A local group of Mexican eateries has shut down a location that was located within the campus of a university.
According to an article in thetech.com, Anna's Taqueria at the Stratton Student Center at MIT in Cambridge has closed permanently, with Anna's owner Betsy Kamio saying in an email that the location at MIT wasn't able to remain in operation because of challenges relating to the "administration's new parameters" and challenges with the space, while also stating that "MIT has decided" that the space "isn't a great fit for a restaurant" and "plans to turn the area into a student lounge." MIT Director of Campus Dining Mark Hayes hinted in an email that Anna's could possibly return at some point, though the university will also start to look at temporary and permanent alternatives for the space. The MIT location of Anna's, which debuted in early 2005, shut down last March due to the coronavirus outbreak.
