A rebranded hotel in Boston is getting ready to open, and it will include a lobby bar and a rooftop restaurant.
According to a post from Eater Boston, Street Bar and Contessa are going to be opening within The Newbury Boston, a hotel at the corner of Newbury Street and Arlington Street (across from the Public Garden) that had previously been The Taj, and before that, the Ritz-Carlton. Eater says that Street Bar is slated to open May 18 when the hotel debuts, while Contessa, which will be an Italian restaurant located on the roof of the hotel, plans to open in the middle of June. (The restaurant will have a glass roof with retractable panels.) Both spots will be run by Major Food Group, which operates two dozen dining and drinking places in the United States and overseas, with these two spots being their first two in Massachusetts.
Plans for The Newbury Hotel were first announced in the fall of 2019.
