Hello, Lord Byron's Back Ribs.
Lord Byron's is one of the popular dining destinations in the city. With its falls-off-the-bones ribs paired with pocket friendly prices, it's not surprising for this place to be flocked by locals and tourists alike.
R and I decided to try this place out after a quick TripAdvisor check. Its #2 rank (with Sans Rival getting the top spot) definitely made us curious. And if it turned out a bust, shelling out a few hundreds won't hurt as much.
Famous for its baby back ribs, R and I went for an order each. He got the regular order priced at PHP159 while mine was student size at PHP94. We also ordered Cansi which was no more than PHP200.
We dropped by around 2 p.m. and though the place was al fresco, it wasn't uncomfortable. Our food also arrived in 15 minutes or so. Then again, we were the only customers that time.
The ribs were a bit smaller than the ones you'd get from other ribs restaurants but at that price, you can't complain. And one bite will make you realize that what you have in front of you is actually a steal!
The ribs were tender in every bite! You don't even need a knife to slice through the meat. It was cooked to perfection and the slight charred parts made it even more heavenly.
If you're traveling on a budget, the student size meal is actually good enough if you don't have a big appetite. My plate left me full.
The bowl of cansi looked promising. But I knew as soon as it got to our table that it was no match to Bacolod's Sharyn's. The aroma was just not there. And true enough, the taste was a bit bland too.
I'll surely be back for more of Lord Byron's ribs when I find myself in Dumaguete.
