A gelato shop in the North End of Boston that was owned by a well-known restaurateur is now a brand new cafe under the same ownership.
According to a source (Geoff Wong), Gigi Gelateria on Hanover Street has been replaced by Dolce, with a picture sent to us indicating that the new spot serves such items as gelato and pizza. We have been told by another source that Frank DePasquale (and his DePasquale Ventures group) continues to be behind the space, though more details are expected sometime this week, including what kinds of food offerings are available in addition to gelato and pizza.
Gigi Gelateria first opened in the North End under the name Gelateria back in 2006.
The address for Dolce (and the former Gigi Gelateria) is 272 Hanover Street, Boston, MA, 02113.
