An overnight fire caused major damage to a structure that had once been home to a landmark Boston restaurant--and one which was in the process of returning.
According to multiple sources, a four-alarm blaze ripped through the Jacob Wirth building on Stuart Street in the Theater District late last night, with NBC Boston saying that the cause and origin of the fire is unknown at this point in time while various sources indicate that there were no injuries in the blaze. As mentioned in an earlier article, City Realty Group and other business partners were working on opening Jacob Wirth back up with few changes made to the place; the restaurant has actually been closed since being hit a fire back in 2018.
Jacob Wirth first opened in 1868, being known in part for its German food and extensive beer list along with its piano singalongs.
