A Thai restaurant in the heart of Cambridge that has been around for more than 20 years has closed, and a ramen shop appears to be taking over the space.
According to a source, Spicies in Harvard Square is no longer in business, with a Cambridge Day article saying that the Holyoke Street eatery shut down this week "without notice." The article mentions that Boston Ramen Co. is planning to open in the space, which a Cambridge License Commission meeting agenda page confirms, saying that the new spot would have seating for 60 while the proposed manager would be Kazuhiro Aotani, who may be the same person who had been involved with the now-closed Snappy Ramen/Snappy Kitchen in Somerville's Davis Square along with the also-closed Snappy Sushi in Boston's Back Bay.
Spicies had formerly been known as Spice, which first opened in the space in 1999.
The address for the now-closed Spicies (and the proposed Boston Ramen Co.) is 24 Holyoke Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
