A Somerville restaurant appears to among the first--if not the first--of the Boston-area dining spots to permanently close in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent restaurant shutdown.
According to a source, MidiCi at Assembly Row has shut down for good, with its Facebook page seeming to confirm this with a "Permanently Closed" label shown where its operating hours had been. The pizza spot, which is part of a California-based "fast-fine" pizza chain, first opened in early 2018, offering Neapolitan-style pizza along with salads, small plates, beer, wine, and cocktails.
While we have heard that another restaurant may have permanently closed in Boston (and it is a well-known name), there has been no confirmation of this as of yet, so MidiCi seems to be the first in the region to officially shut down for good following Tuesday's order where restaurants and bars in Massachusetts can only offer takeout and/or delivery.
The address for MidiCi was 463 Assembly Row, Somerville, MA,02145. The website for the chain can be found at https://mymidici.com/
