A new restaurant may be opening in the Back Bay space where one of the city's best-known restaurants had once been.
According to a licensing board hearing page within the City of Boston website, GKC on Newbury is looking to acquire the liquor license of Tapeo, with the place possibly having a connection to Marao's Burgers in Everett and Framingham; the corporate summary of the parent company (Crazy Good Kitchen, LLC) includes Mario Rodrigues Alves, who is presumably the same person involved with the two Brazilian burger spots. Back in 2018, it appeared that a restaurant called Tony's Kitchen might be going into the Tapeo space, but those plans never came to fruition.
Tapeo, which had been in business for 22 years until closing in 2018, was known for its tapas, Spanish wines, and more.
The address for the proposed GKC on Newbury is 266 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02116.
