Achari Masala Poori is a delicious Indian Flatbread made with wheat flour and spices, including the homemade Achari Masala Powder. This makes a wonderful meal for a relaxed weekend brunch.
We are starting the New Year’s Edition of BM that has some very interesting themes lined up. One of my all time favorite themes has always been AtoZ list. We have been doing such different AtoZ compiled lists for Mega BM since a long time.
Everything I gather recipes for a particular theme, I always end up doing two other lists as well. So I actually have about ten different AtoZ Series with all the recipes included. Ever since I had the list ready and realized that Mega BMs are tough to include all the themes, it struck me suddenly that I could make this part of the regular BM as well.
So starting this month, we can pick one theme under the AtoZ series and do all the months with the respective alphabets. I am sort of obsessed with Indian Flatbreads, so it’s only naturally I picked it up as one of my themes.
By end of this year, you will have a complete list of AtoZ Indian Pooris and I am starting this series with this Achari Masala Poori.
One of the factors that helped me pick this first was because we make pooris twice a month and I can always plan to make these pooris for ourselves while the kids are obessed only with Chana Masala.
This also gave me an option to try different side dishes and as we always end up having a bruch, I also clubbed it with some sweets. I am hoping I will be able to do such elaborate brunches, however since this is the first I was over enthusiastic.
What is Achari Masala and can we make it at home?
Well Achar refers to Pickle in Hindi and this Achari Masala Powder has all the pickling spices blended together and used in this recipe.
I made the achari masala powder at home and was happy with the way the pooris turned out. Some of the other pooris that started with A were Aloo Poori, Aam Ki Poori, Ajwain Poori to name some. I was inspired by this recipe and decided to go with this poori as my first in the series.
So this is my day 1 post for BM#108, week 2 under AtoZ Series, where I am doing AtoZ Indian Pooris.
