A luxury hotel in Boston that resides in an historic space will be rebranded, and when it opens back up, it will include a rooftop restaurant.
Eater Boston is reporting (via The Boston Globe) that Taj Boston at Newbury Street and Arlington Street is going to become a new spot called The Newbury, with the plan being to reopen in the spring of 2020. When it does, the hotel will include a glass-enclosed restaurant on the roof that will have retractable panels, and it will be operated by Major Food Group, a New York-based group whose restaurants include Carbone, Dirty French, and The Grill. (The articles also mention that a drinking spot called Street Bar will also reside within the hotel.) The Taj has been in the space where the Ritz-Carlton Hotel had been since the 1920s, with the name change coming a bit more than 10 years ago.
