An eclectic restaurant that features globally-inspired cuisine along with craft beer and cocktails is shutting down after approximately a year in business.
According to a Facebook post from the place, Country Mile in Watertown is closing after dinner service on Saturday, with the note saying that "Circumstances have conspired to make it necessary for us to step aside and make way for what's next. It's a long and sordid tale, some of which I've aired already here on social media, some of which will remain private, but know that we've loved every minute of showing you crazy folks our version of hospitality." A post from last month indicated that changes might be coming to the Belmont Street spot, saying that "Country Mile will be closed this week while we rest our heads and ponder the universe. Things have been 'interesting' for Nancy and me these past few months as we deal with rampant staffing turnover and shortages, challenging cash flow, a distinct lack of sleep, and not nearly enough time to post cool food pics on Instagram."
Country Mile first opened in late November of 2018, with Matt and Nancy Sargent being behind the restaurant; the Sargents, who come from Vermont, had run a series of "Phantom Dinner" underground dinner events along with a food truck and dining spot before arriving in the local area to help with the opening of Brewer's Tap & Table on Moody Street in Waltham in the latter part of 2016.
The address for Country Mile is 136 Belmont Street, Watertown, MA, 02472.
