A new cafe is on its way to Boston, and it looks to help people in need.
According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Breaktime Cafe is planning to open in the West End section of the city, with the web page for the Portland Street spot saying that it will be "committed to launching the careers of young adults experiencing homelessness through our innovative supported transitional employment program." The non-profit eatery is part of a youth-led social enterprise founded by Tony Shu and Connor Schoen of Harvard University, and as mentioned in an earlier Eater Boston article, the two became friends while working for the student-run Y2Y Harvard Square shelter.
No opening date has been given as of yet for Breaktime Cafe, though a kickoff celebration event last week indicates that things appear to be moving along (plans for Breaktime were first reported in the spring of 2018).
It appears that the address for Breaktime Cafe will be 170 Portland Street.
