Ellu Sadam is a mixed rice variety from Tamil Nadu made with Sesame Seeds and spices. This makes a quick meal by itself.
While I already have two other versions of Ellu Sadam or Sesame Rice / Til Rice, I had to make something with sesame for today. Since I already had plans to make Sakkarai Pongal for the neivedyam, I had to make something savory.
So I decided on this simple Til rice that uses only Sesame and Dry Chili along with some lentils, spices for tempering. This quick rice tastes great on its own, maybe you can serve some crisps on the side.
The other two Sesame Rice I have shared uses a lot of different ingredients, this version is quite simple. So simple that even though I had grated coconut nearby as I wanted to use grated coconut in the saute, I simply forgot about it.
Anyway, this surely works out very quickly and easily. This measurement makes for 1 person more than enough serving.
For Navratri Day 7, Nava Durga is Kalaratri (Saturn). Til represents Shani. On this day we can make Til Sadam, Til Ladoos. For the sweet, I decided to make Sakkarai Pongal.
