A popular neighborhood spot that is known in part for its breakfast dishes may be shutting its doors, as the owners wish to move on to the next stage of their lives.
According to an article in the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge, the Grasshopper Cafe plans to close down with owners Kevin and Lynn Smith looking to retire, while also staying in the local area if possible. The owners have proposed getting rid of the commercial space at the site on Bunker Hill Street and tearing down the building, replacing it with a three-unit residential structure where they might actually live. A community meeting took place at the eatery earlier this week, with the next steps including scheduling a meeting with the Zoning Board of Appeals about the plans.
The Grasshopper Cafe, which opened approximately 10 years ago, is a breakfast and lunch place that does a mix of dine-in and takeout service, while also offering catering.
The address for the Grasshopper Cafe is 229 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, MA, 02129.
Thanks to Universal Hub for initially bringing this to our attention.
