A regional chain of restaurants and ice cream shops continues to disappear from the Boston-area landscape, with one of its last remaining outlets in the local area closing.
According to an article in the Patch, Friendly's in Saugus has shut down, with a check on the company's website showing that the Route 1 location has been removed. With the closing of the Saugus location, only two outlets now remain inside Route 128--one at Logan Airport and another in Stoneham--while a few others are still open a bit further out, including in Norwood, Peabody, and Weymouth.
The Wilbraham-based Friendly's, which was established in Springfield in 1935, offers a variety of ice cream products including sundaes, fribbles, and floats, while its restaurants serve such items as burgers and seafood dishes. Its website is at https://ift.tt/2rCLWPH
