Home of Quirky Flavors: Black Scoop

Black Scoop is known as the home for quirky and one of a kind milk tea and ice cream flavors. Starting off with the well-loved Yakult, this milk tea shop became extra experimental when it launched Pei Pa Koa flavored tea! Though I may not be as adventurous as those who would like to have Chinese herbal cough syrup in their drinks, I discovered new favorites.

Hello, Black Scoop.
Black Scoop started out as a humble milk tea shop along the foodie Maginhawa and grew into several branches in just months! With stores in big malls such as SM North Edsa and Eastwood and prime spots like Tomas Morato, it wasn't surprising that this relatively new player quickly took a big chunk of the boba market.
I tried its Wintermelon Milk Tea and Imperial Fruit Tea before and both were good.

This time around, I opted for its Matcha Brown Sugar Latte with Cream Cheese (PHP150) and grabbed Strawberry Fruit Tea (PHP95, large | PHP20, nata) for R.
Service was quick and I got my drinks before my change!

Unlike most milk tea shops, Black Scoop uses plastic lids. But you can request for the machine sealed ones if you plan to have your drinks to go.

I was not asked on the sweetness level so I assumed that it's standard for both drinks.
However, I found R's drink to be too sweet! R, who immensely love sweet stuff, liked it. Having sinkers was a great call as it would be just like those powdered drinks without it. (Note: The drink tasted like strawberry syrup.)
My drink had that pronounced taste of brown sugar toned down by the earthy flavor of green tea. The cream cheese gave it that nice creamy texture. I found it a bit heavy though as a drink and could be a bit too much if you plan to have this after a meal.
I dropped by another Black Scoop branch the next day and decided to stick with fruit tea. I got Imperial Fruit Tea (PHP110 | PHP120) for R and Peach Lychee (PHP95 | PHP105) for me. I also ordered a cup of Black Mascaropone with Pearls (PHP120 + PHP20).
Its Tomas Morato branch was very busy on a rainy Sunday so it took about 10 minutes for my drinks to be prepared.
First served was my black twirl which I found pretty good. It did taste like cheese! I couldn't help compare this with the more popular and expensive cheese ice cream brand. Black Scoop's version was just as good.
I couldn't say the same though for the pearls as some were tough and half-cooked.
The Imperial Fruit Tea, as always, was great! It had that lovely blend of sweet and citrus flavors which makes it an easy pick.
I was told that Peach Lychee is Black Scoop's bestselling fruit tea. And it was indeed great! Each sip was bursting with peach taste which sadly overpowered lychee. It was one sweet yet refreshing drink I wouldn't mind getting again.

I'm definitely dropping by again to try the other drinks and grab some of its savory dishes too!

Black Scoop has several branches in Metro Manila.
