Vito's Tavern in Boston's North End Has Closed; Will Be Replaced by Domenic's

A sports bar in the North End of Boston has shut down, and a new spot is taking over the space.

According to a source (Geoff Wong), Vito's Tavern on Salem Street is closed and its windows are papered over, with a note out front thanking customers for their business and saying that a new place called Domenic's will open there around the end of the month. A sign is now up for Domenic's, and under the sign is the slogan "The Heart and Soul of Little Italy," though no details on a concept or menu have been given as of yet.

Vito's Tavern first opened in the summer of 2011, taking over the space where Eclano had been; the bar was known for its pub grub including wings, burgers, and hot dogs, and it also offered a few Italian dishes such as pasta primavera and ziti and meatballs.

The address for the upcoming Domenic's (and now-closed Vito's Tavern) is 54 Salem Street, Boston, MA, 02113.
