Hello again, Nanyang!
Its SM Megamall branch is quite smaller than its BGC counterparts. But its prime location at the ground floor of building A (beside Breadtalk) makes it hard to miss.
We dropped by for a quick lunch and ordered Prawn Laksa (PHP268) along with Homemade Barley (PHP120) and Kopi Jelly Milk Tea (PHP130). R went with Kaya Toast with Soft Boiled Egg and Kopi set (PHP135) and hot Honey Lemon (PHP110) as he was coughing pretty bad that day. We also tried Mango Pomelo (PHP120) for dessert.
Service was pretty fast as our drinks were ready within 5 minutes and our food was served soon after.
I've always loved Toast Box's barley drink and it didn't fail to be an awesome thirst quencher. But my meal turned a bit more special by coffee jelly milk tea. I loved how caffeine-packed this drink was in every sip! And I enjoyed munching on those slightly bitter jelly.
R's Honey Lemon drink was pretty good too. It was smooth to drink and I liked how honey and lemon balanced each other instead of one overpowering the other.
The Kaya Toast as always was great.
But the highlight of ordering this set is always the divine soft boiled eggs. Nanyang got those eggs cooked perfectly! Just add a bit of soy sauce and you are set!
My bowl of Prawn Laksa was a bit too salty for me. Turns out that I made a (hungry) mistake in ordering laksa instead of noodle soup. It would have been awesome if there's an option to buy extra noodles as I was left with half a bowl of broth.
I usually get Fish Ball Noodle Soup every time I pass by Nanyang. It was also my staple get better meal whenever I'm sick.
The Mango Pomelo dessert was good too. It was served chilled and had good amount of mango and pomelo. It would have been perfect if there were small tapioca balls to go with it.
Overall, it was a pleasant meal. I'll definitely go back to try the other drinks and grab more of its famous Kaya Toast and soft boiled eggs.
