More than just Milkshakes: The Lost Bread

The Lost Bread has been one of the Instagrammable brands in town and probably one of the messiest too. I fell for its milkshake topped with cotton candy that I braved the humid and crowded food park of Maginhawa to try one. And it was an unpleasant experience. I never visited The Lost Bread for years and avoided it even when it opened in malls. But a post on Let's Eat Pare showing ChocNut Ice Cream made me think that it's time to give this shop a second chance.

Hello, The Lost Bread
I was surprised that The Lost Bread in SM Megamall offers more than just drinks. Aside from its picture perfect drinks, The Lost Bread also offers pasta, burgers and rice bowls to complement its sweet beverages.
My original plan is to quickly grab one of those ChocNut Soft Serve Ice Cream (PHP95, cone) and run to an event at 1 p.m. but the sukiyaki cut tapa rice bowl looked too good to pass. I ended up buying a bowl of Beef Tapa (PHP185) as late lunch.
Service was a bit slow as it took over 30 minutes for my rice bowl to be served. House water was also served about 25 minutes after placing my order. I can't blame the staff though as there was only one manning the counter and a couple are busy in the kitchen. I do wish though that they'd add at least one more as it took a while before my table was cleared of the plates from the previous customers.
My frown was turned into a smile when I saw the serving size of my rice bowl. It had generous topping of meat! And it was scrumptious!
The tender tapa slices had that sweet yet savory flavor that would keep you wanting more! I also enjoyed the tomato and onion bits as it added crunch to the dish.
The breaded poached egg had so much promise but the chef has to practice a bit more as it was overcooked for poached egg
I was very excited to try the ChocNut ice cream as I'm a fan of the classic chocolate peanut bar! And I was pleased that the serving was just like what you see in its posters and ads.
Though creamy, it didn't have that pronounced taste of ChocNut that I was hoping to get from this. Don't get me wrong. It was good and had that delightful peanut taste. It just didn't taste like the mini bars that I love.
Overall, my dining experience this time was so much better. Service may be slow but the staff are friendly. The place too is comfy and perfect for catch up session with friends. Or to do some work as this branch offers WI-FI.
The Lost Bread is located at 4th Floor, Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
