A local group of Mexican restaurants will soon be closing one of its locations, though another dining spot will be moving into its space.
According to an article in the Patch, El Centro in Brookline Village is getting ready to shut down, with chef/owner Allan Rodriguez indicating that he has outgrown the Washington Street space, saying that "restaurant sales have increased for the past three months....And we have a great landlord. It's more about finding a space so that we can have a bigger full experience with customers." The article says that the restaurant will probably close in about a month, and that a Thai eatery called Mahaniyum will be taking over the space. Locations of El Centro in Boston's South End, Belmont, and Dedham will remain in operation, as will La Neta in the Back Bay--and the article says that Rodriguez is apparently opening another restaurant in the suburbs as well, though no details have been given as of yet.
The Brookline location of El Centro first opened in 2013, two years after the first location in the South End debuted.
The address for the soon-to-close El Centro in Brookline Village is 236 Washington Street, Brookline, MA, 02445. The website for all locations can be found at http://bit.ly/2WTzdqK
