Late last fall, a local brewery opened a seasonal beer garden in an historic structure that had been home to another beer garden the year before. Now there is a plan to make the current beer hall a permanent one.
According to an article from Universal Hub, Turtle Swamp Brewing is seeking a zoning change in order to make its beer garden in the Roslindale Substation permanent, with a community meeting taking place on the issue May 8. The post mentions that the brewery would need a variance for a brewery-related use, as the space is currently zoned for restaurant use (a restaurant called Third Rail was hoping to open there but those plans never came to be).
Last winter, Trillium had a beer garden in the substation while also having an outdoor beer garden on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in downtown Boston during the warmer months (including this coming season).
