A waterside restaurant that has been in business for a long time is shutting down, and a new eatery is moving into its space.
According to an article in itemlive.com, Hayward's in Lynn is closing on April 27, confirming rumors that we had heard earlier about the Lynnfield Street spot. The post says that owner Taso Mavros is selling the business in part because of health-related issues, saying that "I just can't work 15-hour days anymore....We built a good relationship with the customers and life throws you curveballs and you have to take care of yourself and your family before anything else." Mavros is selling the space to Enrico and Jaime Mancini, who will open a new restaurant called Dock 125 which will offer salads, burgers, steaks, and pasta, while also featuring some of Hayward's seafood dishes. (The article mentions that Jaime had worked at Hayward's for a number of years when she was younger.) No specific opening date has been given for Dock 125 as of yet, but the post says that four to six weeks of renovations will take place before it can open.
Hayward's first opened more than 40 years ago, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner at its Sluice Pond location while focusing on seafood items.
The address for Hayward's (and the upcoming Dock 125) is 125 Lynnfield Street, Lynn, MA, 01904.
