Urban Axes Is Coming to Somerville's Union Square

by Marc Hurwitz

A group of ax-throwing facilities that include alcohol will be expanding to the Boston area as soon as this summer.

Eater Boston is reporting (via BizBash) that Philadelphia-based Urban Axes is planning to open in the Union Square section of Somerville, with the place including a full bar and having room for 80 to 100 people. The upcoming location will apparently be available for groups or corporate events and walk-in hours will be offered as well, and there will be ax-throwing leagues of all levels. The posts mention that workers will give safety information and oversee patrons who are throwing the 1.5-pound hatchets, which are aimed at wooden targets that have bullseyes.

EB says that no food will be offered at the Urban Axes location in Somerville, though customers are invited to bring their own.

The website for Urban Axes can be found at https://urbanaxes.com/
